Description

Shoe mount flash EF-X500

The EF-X500 is a hot-shoe mount flash with the maximum guide number of approx. 50 (ISO100·m) / 164 (ISO100·ft). Its support for the FP mode (high-speed flash sync) means the flash can be fired at any shutter speed. This means you can concentrate on shooting when a faster shutter speed is required, for example, in order to use a near-maximum aperture to produce beautiful bokeh. EF-X500 also supports multi-flash lighting. Set up multiple flashes to freely control light on a subject and background for a creative result. TTL lighting control is available with single flash and also in the multi-flash setup, so that you can start shooting without having to make cumbersome adjustments to light output.

Compatibility

GFX100 / GFX100S / GFX50S II / GFX 50S / GFX 50R / X-H2S / X-H1 / X-Pro3 / X-Pro2 / X-T4 / X-T3 / X-T2 / X-T1 / X-S10 / X-T30 II / X-T30 / X-T20 / X-T200 / X-E4 / X-E3 / X100V / X100F

Take advantage of high-speed sync, wireless control and triggering, and other advanced flash capabilities with the FUJIFILM EF-X500 Flash for X-series cameras. Featuring a lower profile, this weather-resistant flash is compatible with Fuji's TTL system, and a great option for the company's compact mirrorless cameras. It offers a powerful guide number of 164' at ISO 100 and 105mm settings as well as a zoom range of 24-105mm, equivalent to 16-70mm in APS-C lenses. A pull-out diffuser is available for expanding coverage to wider 20mm, or 10mm APS-C lenses. In keeping with hybrid stills/video camera designs, and offering an alternative fill light option to the pull-out bounce card built into the flash, is an LED light.

For bounce lighting, the EF-X500 can tilt from -10 to 90° and offers rotation left 135° and right 180°. A major addition to this flash is full wireless master and slave TTL functionality. It uses optical pulse communication to trigger and control remote EF-X500 flashes set up in one of four channels and within three groups. Additionally, the flash has a multi flash stroboscopic mode and runs on four AA batteries.

  • Powerful guide number of 164' at ISO 100 and 105mm
  • Zoom range of 24-105mm in 35mm terms, or 16-70mm for APS-C format
  • Pull-out diffuser offers support for 20mm optics and pull-out bounce card helps provide additional fill light
  • Daylight-balanced color temperature of 5600K
  • High-speed sync possible with select cameras
  • Manual power control of 1/1 to 1/512 in 1/3 stop steps
  • Multi repeating flash mode with setting of 1-500 Hz for 2-100 flashes
  • Flash exposure compensation of -5 to +5 EV in 1/3 EV steps

Features

FP flash (high-speed flash sync)

With cameras equipped with a focal plane shutter, when the shutter speed is high, the first and second shutter curtains move across at the same time, making the exposure through a narrow vertical slit between them. Because of this, light from a conventional flash can only reach a small section of the sensor. This is why a slower shutter speed must be used in flash photography, with the range of available shutter speeds severely limited.

EF-X500 supports the FP mode (high-speed flash sync), in which the flash outputs continuous light while the first and second curtains travel across the sensor, thereby enabling flash photography at any shutter speed.

When shooting with a near-maximum aperture to create beautiful bokeh, the shutter speed tends to go higher. This flash mode frees photographers from having to be conscious about shutter speed limitations, and instead allows them to focus on shooting.

Wireless multi-flash TTL

EF-X500 can be used in multi-flash setup to freely control light on a subject and background for a creative result. TTL lighting control is available with single flash and also in the multi-flash setup, so that you can start shooting without having to make cumbersome adjustments to light output.

Multiple flashes can be controlled in up to three groups, each of which can be set up to have different light output, allowing you to fine-tune the space of light. As the light output can also be adjusted from the camera, you don’t need to set it down for lighting control.

Dust- and water-resistant

Dust-resistant and water-resistant capabilities expanding the scope of photographic fields when used with X Series cameras

Innovative design with low center of gravity

The front side of EF-X500’s main body is applied with leather texture to compliment the design of the X Series cameras. It is designed with low center of gravity to maintain ease of operation when mounted on the X Series cameras, known for their lightweight and compact bodies.

Other product features

  • Maximum guide number approx. 50 (ISO100·m) / 164 (ISO100·ft)
  • Zooming the illumination angle for the focal lengths of 24mm – 105mm*1, and covering the illumination angle of around 20mm*1 when the wide panel is used
  • Flash head that can be tilted up by 90 degrees, down by 10 degrees, to the left by 135 degrees and to the right by 180 degrees for bouncing light
